….
I’m the Little Beach Bum.
In autumn of 2009, I left blustery, dark, wet, cold Seattle…
…
…for sunny, bright, warm Miami.
….
I originally began this blog as a way to show my friends and family photographs of my day-to-day life.
….
I work for a small non-profit organization in downtown Miami.
I live in a sparkling new high-rise about ten minutes from South Beach.
….
….
I spend 95% of my time with my camera in my hand.
I love cheese, gardening, babies, Rogers & Hammerstein, the ocean, and studying educational policy.
….
I get lost easily, and frequently.
Because of this, I don’t speak any Spanish other than donde estoy?
(And, donde el vino?)
(And, donde el baño?)

My husband’s older daughter lives in Seattle. You’re right – that’s a long way from Miami. My husband and I spent the day and a night in Miami while waiting for our cruise. We walked a lot. Why do the grocery stores not have parking lots? Hopefully, you won’t get too homesick!
Hi! I found your site via the Pioneer Woman – after I made my comment about those dresses looking like a Project Runway challenge, I scrolled up and found you had said the same thing! I’m bummed the current season is over, but very pleased that Seth won ( and not Emilio, LOL!) Anyway, I recently started a blog too, so I thought I’d pop over and check yours out! Moving to Miami, what a huge change! You sound like a brave woman. I have lived in the same, small Massachusetts town virtually all my life.
I too found your website through Ree Drummond…your comments on using Ipod for homeschooling, I enjoyed your comment and agree….although my children are all grown….I’m a grandmom, so I’m a bit out of touch with “schooling”!!!
We lived in South Florida and North Florida also, and LOVED IT…Our daughters (3) all graduated from UF the’re Gators!!! Actually we are huge Gator fans also.
Enjoy Miami!! :)
I hope it’s ok… I linked you to my blog. I was very much enjoying your recipes :)
Hiya! Just came across your blog randomly. Really enjoyed browsing through some of your stories, photos, and recipes (especially the Peach Crisp – Yum)! It’s also inspiring to read about your transition from the gloomy shores of Seattle to sunny Miami, Florida as I’m considering a similar move myself.
Keep up the good work and enjoy the sunshine!
Your fellow Seattle native,

Hey,
Your blogs awesome and I’m definitely going to become a regular reader. :D
Your move from Seattle to Miami sounds like one of those crazy great life experiences.
Check out my blog sometime!

Hi, I thought I’d check out your blog since you left such sweet comments on mine. I love Carrie Underwood too, I bet her wedding was gorgeous. There’s actually a resemblance between you and her. It must be awesome living in Miami with all the nice weather. Good luck on your job hunt!
