I take all of the photos on this site. My dad gave me a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi for graduation last December, and I have slowly been learning how to use it! After about a month of using AV and TV settings, I switched to shooting full manual, except occasionally I use my autofocus. I love it. I try and take as many photographs as possible (to the delight of my friends and colleagues), of as many different things as possible – anything that allows me to experiment with different lighting, settings, colors. I still sometimes shoot 100 photos, then realize that I left it in 1600 ISO, or thought I was using auto focus when it was actually set to manual, and the humidity drove me crazy when I first moved down here (because if I took my camera outside I couldn’t use it for half an hour, because the lenses were so fogged up)- but luckily those times are getting fewer and farther between.
The best way to learn is by doing, so I photograph everything in my life that I can:
from produce in the grocery store…
…to our youth at work events…
…to my wonderful friends and their families…
…to, of course, the beautiful, glorious, divine Miami sunsets…

nice pictures…
I have a SONY DSC H-5, Super Steady Shot and I’m still shooting in auto after three long years! I need to get braver. I had a Pentax K-1000 for years and took so many great (I think) pics…all manual of course.
At least, I have found the macro button on my new camera! ;-)
Another blog you may enjoy here on WordPress is Views Infinitum. We have a fun little photo community on that site! He’s a pro and he gives us “wanna-be’s” great advice and challenges us with photo challenges about every other month. One should be coming up this month!
I responded to your questions in a comment at my blog too! Again, thanks for stopping by!
Hi, I just started reading your blog. Love your pics. I have the same camera! I have really been playing around in Creative Mode and TV the most. Was it hard to go into Manual? Any tips or sites to check out to help? Do you normally use a tripod?
